Plant 1/8″ deep. Can germinate at 50-80 degrees with best results around 65 degrees.
Little shade or full sun
Escarole is a light feeder and will still benefit from soil with compost or sprayed with compost tea or nettle spray upon transplant.
Grows best in cooler temperatures (50-70 degrees). Some cold and light frost tolerance.
Harvest as cut greens (30-45 days) or when the escarole has fully headed (~70 days) similar to a head of loose-leaf lettuce.
