Start indoors in pots or cells in late winter for transplants or direct seed in mid-spring.
Sow 1/4″ deep every 1/2″. Thin or transplant 8″ apart.
Partial to full sun
Leaves are mildest when they are smaller and early in the season as they can get bitter into the warmer weather and as the leaf size increases. Harvest individual leaves or full rosettes, rinse, and enjoy!
USES & COOKING SUGGESTIONS
Sorrel in French means “sour” so mix this green along with milder ones for a salad. Whirl in with dressings, purees, or let it’s flavor permeate an oil – all of these applications go particularly well on fish!
*Note: sorrel in high in oxalic acid so those on diets avoiding oxalic acid should shy away from this tasty green.
