Certified Biodynamic and Organic

This small heading type Batavian lettuce, originally from the University of Hawaii, does surprisingly well in our northern climate. Thick bright-green outer leaves and tight cores are mild and delightfully crisp and juicy. The name, pronounced ah-new-ee-new-ee, means rainbow. We are one of very few places where this bijou lettuce is available!

USES & COOKING SUGGESTIONS

Tiny but mighty, this lettuce is the perfect size for a salad for one or two (depending on your salad consumption) Sweet and crisp, it stands up well to whatever you want to add to it–we like to remember its Hawaiian roots– grilled sweet fruit like pineapple and seafood with a hot ginger-lemon-honey-tamari dressing.
