Seed is beige with brown speckles. Used for soups and refried beans. This variety is high yielding and early! Ripens one or two weeks earlier than other pinto varieties. Grown on the Northern Nebraska Plains. It can develop very long runners in warm wet conditions. ≈84 seeds/oz.

Sow beans 1-2″ deep. It is recommended to soak beans 2-6 hours prior to planting.

Semi-bush type – needs no or little trellising

PLANT SPACING
Plant seeds every 2-3″ with 18″-36″ between rows.

HARDINESS ZONES
Beans are NOT hardy and will die with light frost.

HARVEST
Allow plants to mature until pods brown. Allow pods to dry, bringing indoors if necessary, then shell these great pintos!

COMPANION PLANTING
As beans fix nitrogen, they pair well with many other crops especially beets, celery & celeriac, cabbage, potatoes, leeks, and radishes. Strong scented herbs planted near beans may discourage bean beetle.
