SOWING
1/4″ deep. Sow violetta lunga eggplant seeds approximately 6-8 weeks before last frost in green house. It is best if green house temperatures do not drop below 65 degrees. Heating mats and plastic covering over tables can help keep warmth and moisture in. Transplant outside 2-3 weeks after last frost. In the North East, it is traditional to plant warm weather crops on or after Memorial Day. Eggplant can be transplanted 1-2 weeks earlier if kept under row cover (which may be advisable while plants are small to prevent flea beetle damage).
