Schoenbrunn Gold Physalis Seeds 348

$3.65$6.35

Certified Biodynamic and Organic Sweet-tart aromatic fruit is born in lanterns on a sturdy 3-4ft tall plant. A further bred Cape Gooseberry type. This outstanding fruit tastes of guava, passionfruit, mango and citrus. Unlike ground cherries, these do not fall when ripe. When the husk begins to turn from yellow to dry tan, the 1-inch round yellow to golden-orange fruit inside is ripe.  Great for sorbet, ice cream, sauces for fish, pureed to add an aromatic sweet-tart note to any dish from salsa to sushi–your imagination is the only limit! This is unlike any fruit we’ve tasted–we highly recommend this to anyone who is interested in exploring new flavors in the kitchen. Named for the Palace of Schoenbrunn in Vienna. Much touted as a superfood for its health benefits, it is high in vitamins A and C.

USES & COOKING SUGGESTIONS

Use fresh for topping desserts, make into puree or jam, or add to hot sauces for a sweet, spicy, fruity treat. In our garden some insects seem to like these sweet tangy fruits, so make sure you cut them open before popping them in your mouth, since occasionally one will be home to a critter!
